Coming soon

2012 is a year not only with huge releases from Van Halen, Rush, Kiss, Lit and Black Sabbath. But we can also expect new albums from these bands that I have listed in this feature. First out is Alien Ant Farm that is still riding the success of their Michael Jackson cover "Smooth criminal" but it´s been a while since their latest album in 2006. The band is currently in the studio recording their long awaited new album, they´ve been up in the attic way too long now and need to come down to show us all their new songs they wrote.

The Killers get bigger and bigger for each album so I wonder what they have planned for their 4th album that will be out in summer?! It is produced by Steve Lillywhite and it is said to be called Battle Born, we´ll just have to wait and see but I am pretty certain it will contain one or two blockbuster hits.

The Swedish metal veterans Soilwork don´t need vacation and keep releasing new albums like we go to the grocery store to buy milk, they have already named the forthcoming album as "The living infinite" and I bet we can count on a bunch of killer riffs. It´s just as safe as Expendables 2 being an action movie. Perhaps it will drop in fall.

The British pop/rock band Keane has grown from a trio to a quartet and they are finishing up their 4th album, due out in spring. Masters of beautiful melodies but still not as recognized as Coldplay, it should be the other way around if you ask me. Why? Well, Keane write their own songs. Hehe.

Ok then, it´s been 5 years since the latest album came out with Matchbox Twenty. But don´t rush, we only want a new album NOW! Fortunately, the new album is almost done but no release date is set yet. Well, we can help you guys with that. If someone is gonna push Lady Gaga down from the charts, M20 can!

Lead guitarist Gus G had a short stay in the stardom spotlight with Ozzy before the Ozzman reunited with Black Sabbath, and now Gus is back with his band Firewind. The Greek powermetallers will release their 7th album "Few against many" in spring, Ozzy should take them out to support Black Sabbath if he´s got any decency.

The christian rock band Anberlin don´t lay around on the sofa, waiting for better times. Oh no, they are in the studio wrapping up their 6th album for a release in June. Fans jump high of joy and why shouldn´t they? This is a cool band, you´re uncool if you think otherwise.

The megastar Alanis Morissette don´t need to make new music because of the money, her monster selling Jagged little pill from 1995 sold more than 33 million copies and those hit songs are still playing on the radio. So Alanis is laughing all the way to the bank but she is currently recording her 8th album for a release in the summer. It will be first album since 2008.

Hrm, what´s going on the Arrowsmith camp? Yes, they were originally called Arrowsmith before changing their name to Aerosmith and we thank Tyler and Perry for that decision. But no new album since 2004, cmon fellas! We know you´re in the studio and we know you´ve written a load of material. Get off your sorry asses and finish that album before we do it for ya.

Is this one of the coolest reunions in 2012? Well, I do believe so. Tommy Walters is back from his glacier hiking and reunited with his Abandoned Pools and will release their first album since 2005. Rumours has it that there will be an album announcement today regarding their new album "Sublime currency", give us the news!

Boston! Well, as long as Tom Scholz is in the band and he IS Boston, we know that a decade has to pass by before the super AORsters will release a new album. But their 6th album is 85% done and I must say I am thrilled to hear it because of their new amazing vocalist Tommy DeCarlo.

Rock and roll heroes - Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi is the biggest selling AOR band in the world with more than 130 million albums sold, although they might not be labeled as a pure AOR act, their sound is mainly AOR with traces of New Jersey rock and hard rock. Their early stuff is super classic, just look at these album covers and tell me otherwise. By the way, here are the Top 10 selling AOR bands:
1.Bon Jovi (130 million) 2.Chicago (122) 3.Bryan Adams (100) 4.Journey (80) 5.Foreigner (70) 6.Def Leppard (65) 7.REO Speedwagon (40) 8.Toto (35) 9.Boston (31) 10.Styx (17)

Their country influenced album Lost highway aint your typical Bon Jovi album and some fans hated it but I think it´s truly underrated and people should give it a chance.

Their modern era contains several solid albums where especially the latest "The circle" is really good, truly must haves in your Bon Jovi collection.

Their weakest albums, 7800 Fahrenheit and the 90´s alternative style of These days doesn´t make me happy any day of the week, there are some good songs on the 1985 album 7800 Fahrenheit but the production sucks.

5 quick questions to Greta Valenti

Here is another 5 quick questions feature with the beautiful singer Greta Valenti of Well Hung Heart, with one input from guitarist Robin Davey.

What´s the most overrated band in the world?
Lady Gaga, obviously. She has done nothing different than any pop singer before or since, yet she considers herself a great "artiste".

What´s the most underrated band in the world?
N.E.R.D. Saw them live and they were amazing. Pharrells energy and creativity are inspiring, and the whole group just makes great music together.

What´s the latest concert youve been to?
Our own tour of Europe opening for The Hoax, but before that Portishead at The Shrine in Los Angeles.

Which song should I start my next mixtape with?
Well definitely a Well Hung heart song like "This Is Not Love" (Live) or our cover of "The Power of Love". But besides that, it depends on your mood.
My ultimate energy boosting song is "Shotgun" by Jr. Walker and the All-Stars. (The old skool N.E.R.D.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnhI_ECOAK4 Then follow it up with some current N.E.R.D. or other Pharrell written songs for some ass-shakin fun.
If you want something sad and heart breaking... Hank Williams "So Lonesome I could Cry" followed up with "Top of the World" by Dixie Chicks or the original song writer Patty Griffin.
Something creepy, rocking, and punk? Add something by my fav band, Mr. Clit and the Pink Cigarettes.

Who is the nicest person you know?
Robin says "Greta Valenti".
I say...contrary to popular belief, Robin Davey, but he is beat 100x over by his Mom, Chris.

Livingston - Satelllite

The international band Livingston with members from Germany, UK, South Africa and Italy, will release their new album "Fire to fire" on March 23rd. The new song "Satellite" is available as free download at:
http://newalbum.livingstonmusic.co.uk/?page_id=244
This is quality rock ladies and gents, U2 meets Switchfoot.

Steaming Satellites - The mustache mozart affaire

Ah, a new year! I bet we´re gonna hear lots of those judgement day prophecies since it´s 2012 but who cares anyway? They only want publicity, and the only publicity I care about is new music. Hehe. Like the Austrian band Steaming Satellites and their new album "The mustache mozart affaire" (out Jan 6th), this is a cool electronic/alternative rock band and you can download the new song "Witches" all for free at:
http://steamingsatellites.members.cablelink.at/2011/music.html
