5 quick questions to Eric Johns, Geoff Tyson and Robert Fleischman

It´s been a while since my last feature of 5 quick questions so I thought it was about time I opened the box of these questions again and send them over the airwaves to a few gentlemen in the music business, namely singer Eric Johns of Human Cometh/Southern Gentlemen, the amazing guitarist Geoff Tyson, formerly of T-Ride and last but not least, Robert Fleischman of The Sky, Channel and Journey.

What´s the most overrated band in the world?
Eric - Vampire weekend
Geoff - Jay Z
Robert - Nickelback

What´s the most underrated band in the world?
Eric - The twilight singers
Geoff - My own, of course
Robert - The Sky

What´s the latest concert you´ve been to?
Eric - I think it was Greg Dulli´s acoustic show
Geoff - I dont know who they were, I was drunk in Prague and when I entered the club some strange lady followed me around trying to kick me out. Maybe it was part of the show? They had an old guy singing that looked like the singer from Maroon 5. They sounded like a botched circumcision. Maybe that girl was trying to warn me?
Robert - Noel Gallagher

Which song should I start my next mixtape with?
Eric - Everybody knows by Leonard Cohen
Geoff - Start your mixtape with Geoff Tyson Band "100 million motherfuckers" to get your pumping right
Robert - All I want by The Sky

Who is the nicest person you know?
Eric - Music producer and close friend, Jeff Higgins
Geoff - Everyone is a cunt except for you and me, and I am a bit of cunt
Robert - My wife

Record labels we miss - Pakaderm Records

I continue my tribute to record labels we miss, earlier I have featured Atenzia Records, Now and then Music and Music For Nations. This time I salute Pakaderm Records that was founded by John and Dino Elefante. John was a member of Kansas in the early 80´s and has produced million sellers with Petra. The Elefante brothers started Pakaderm Records in 1989 and released plenty of impressive christian rock albums till 1995 such as:

Brighton - Promise of love
Fear Not - Fear Not
Mark Pogue and Fortress - Restoration
Michael Gleason - Children of choices
Guardian - Fire and love

Guardian - Swing swang swung
Halo - Halo
Halo - Heaven calling
Love War - Soak your brain
Mastedon - Its a jungle out there

Mastedon - Lofcaudio
Scott Springer - Hello forever
The Brave - Battle cries
The Brave - Trust
X Sinner - Peace treaty

John and Dino got back into the record label business between 2004-2006 with their label Selectric Records and released alternative rock music with bands like Homeless J, Dalton, Cross Culture, Monday Morning, Pivitplex and High Flight Society but I thought Pakaderm was a lot more groovy!

Under the radar : Weaving The Fate

Columbia, South Carolina’s Weaving The Fate is a combination of four different styles and energies that produces an electrifying mix of musical virtuosity and passionate performances. Lead Singer and guitarist Brian Conner, bassist Bobby Dredd, DJ Able One and Drummer Jeremy "Finesse" Roberson all met in their hometown (previously under the moniker of Villanova), and have developed a passionate ...regional fan base whose loyalty and devotion to the band’s music and live performance is second to none. Standout tracks such as lead single "Str8 to the Bottom", with their debut album produced by music icon Howard Benson (3 Doors Down, My Chemical romance, All American Rejects, Daughtry, and P.O.D) is set for an early 2012 release via Universal Republic.

Under the radar : Tantrum to blind

In the beginning of 2008 Tantrum To Blind was founded and today, three years later, the pieces are finally falling into place. With an intense sound combined with musical quality, an energetic live performance, attitude and hunger, the band is here to stay. So far they have really proven themselves through constant touring and also through being selected artist of the month in January 2011 by leading Swedish telecom operator Comviq through a massive TV campaign on MTV Nordic.
They´ve also played leading Swedish festivals such as PEACE & LOVE and Pride this summer and visited every club worth mentioning from the north to the south. They were also selected as the only Nordic act to come and play at the biggest outdoor rock festival in Hanoi, Vietnam end of April 2011 and recently came back from playing both a wakeboard event in Holland as well as POPKOMM in Berlin. The debut album “Walk Out” was released just before summer in Sweden through an exclusive distribution deal with Warner Music.

1985

This is moi back in the early 90´s, with long hair and those AOR albums spinning every day. So it is with much joy I announce that me and Morgan (the Human Cometh original duo) rocks again with a new recording of the new song "1985". No it´s not the Bowling For Soup song.
Morgan decided that it wouldn´t suit the 3rd Human Cometh album and since I´m rocking with the AOR band Blue Cow Kent nowadays, we thought it would be perfect for my new band.
So I did the lyrics to Morgan´s music and recorded it last night, Morgan will mix it later this week and I will post a mp3 soon as possible. I think it sounds a bit like TNT meets Kiss.

mazeOne

Last night I did some recording again, that was fun. This time I tracked vocals for 3 songs on Anders PlassgÃ¥rd´s new project mazeOne. http://mazeone.com
The style can be described as 70´s rock with a touch of modern metal, watch out for a release in 2012.
I have also heard a few tracks off the upcoming 3rd album with my former band Human Cometh, the new stuff sounds awesome!!! Much heavier but still really progressive, the new singer Eric Johns sings just great. The songs I´ve heard sounds like a mix between Audioslave and Opeth!
Lead guitarist and my friend Morgan Pettersson told me, he wants to write 1-2 more songs before completing the new album.

Rock and roll heroes - Love / Hate

Love / Hate could´ve been really big in the 90´s but grunge truly killed this glam/sleaze band and wiped them off the face of the earth, however they gave us 2 classic albums between 90-92 and I also saw them live in 92 supporting Ozzy. The band kicked ass!
Love Hate had the same attitude as all the punk bands together today.

The band continued to deliver albums but they hardly got any attention but the 1995 album "I´m not happy" is an underrated album that noone ever speaks of, the track "Superfragilistic" is one of their best tracks.

The 1994 album "Let´s rumble" was done without support from the major label and the band struggled hard to release something equally good as the first two albums, but even if it was a good album, it never reached the same high level as "Wasted in America" from 1992.

Bassist/songwriter Skid was the one behind all the album´s artwork which gave the band a certain trademark as well.

The band leader Skid left the band for a while and the others released two more albums in the late 90´s but they were nothing but disappointments for the fans, lead singer Jizzy also joined Ratt for a few years.

Under the radar : Before The Curtain

If Adam Haggarty chose his life before conception, he chose wisely. The frontman and creative force of Before the Curtain, Haggarty played out his childhood in the small city of Peterborough, northeast of Toronto.
Even the end of his short run on guitar with My Darkest Days stoked his creative fire: “I wished the guys the best of luck and moved to Kelowna.
The relocation to the west coast was instrumental in giving the artist space to write non-stop and master his own recording/production skills. The resulting songs caught the ear of Darren Grahn who would go on to produce demos of Haggarty’s new material with the intention to gain label interest. Enter Adam Gontier (Three Days Grace) who received the recordings through mutual friend and Before the Curtain bass player, Tommy Gardner. It was crystal clear upon hearing more songs, listening to Haggarty perform and spending time together writing that this was the perfect band to debut on Gontier’s own Sludge Factory label. Album coming early 2012.

The first single "I want it all" is out now, listen at
