Under the radar : Jaggedy Ann

Jaggedy Ann is an all girl rock band with an explosive stage presence and a powerful hard rock sound! The band was formed in 2002 by Leona Sharpe/Kenyon, who was inspired by one of her previous bands and who had the vision to start Jaggedy Ann.
But Jaggedy Ann was making more than just a local buzz. They had caught the attention of Andrew Featherstone, owner and president of Intergalactic Records, and organizer of the World Battle of the Bands.
Also present at the world final was Phil Rudd, drummer of the legendary AC/DC. He too was blown away by this high-energy female rock act – so much, in fact, that he told Andrew he wanted to produce the album. Featherstone flew to Las Vegas to sign Jaggedy Ann. This led the band to New Zealand to record their first album, produced by Phil Rudd.
Jaggedy Ann is like a kiss of dynamite! These ladies are jaw dropping, electrifying, sexy, and will leave you wanting more!

Rock and roll heroes - Goo Goo Dolls

Ohyeah, I love this band. Goo Goo Dolls are truly one of the best modern rock bands on this planet with masterpieces like "Dizzy up the girl" (1998) and "Something for the rest of us" (2010). Anyone who hasn´t heard the hit "Iris" probably live in Amazonas.
John Rzeznik is a brilliant songsmith!

The albums before Dizzy are the ones where Goo Goo Dolls started to take form, there are several great songs on these albums that deserve more attention than they get. Some songs did end up in remixed versions on collections like Greatest Hits Vol 2 and Ego, Art, Opinion and Commerce.

Check out "Superstar car wash" (1993) and "A boy named goo" (1995), if you haven´t already.

The albums "Gutterflower" (2002) and "Let me in" (2006) are big sellers and the band also had their songs on Soundtrack albums like Transformers, good stuff worth having in your Goo Goo collection for sure. But don´t forget to listen to Rzeznik´s solo song "I´m still here" from the Treasure Island Soundtrack (2002). Great song.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFLqNqYNBP0

Their 3 first albums aren´t exactly something you should hear if you started listening to this band around 1998, these ones are more punkrock sounding and not that good actually.

Jacob Guajardo - Time to believe

Anggun - Cold war

Crazy Arm - Tribes

British punk that bring thoughts to Big Country meets The Skids. Very cool!

Under the radar : The Animation

The Animation is a Swedish Arenarockband from Gothenburg that was formed in late 2006.
Their sound comes from some of their influences such as Coldplay, Keane, The Killers, U2, Radiohead.
During 2008-09 The Animation recorded another 8 songs in Svenska Grammofon Studion and added the songs from "The Grass Is Always Greener On The Other Side".
The 11 songs represented the self-financed album "Everest". But the album was never officially released because Cosmos Music Group and Supernova Records opened their eyes for the band.
In 2010 the band went back in the studios again, this time in the Cosmos Studios in Stockholm and recorded 14 songs with Henrik Edenhed (Robyn, Teddybears) as the producer.
They released their first official single "It´s Late" in June 2011, the official full length debut will be out early 2012.

Under the radar : Diamante

Hollywood's newest gem, DIAMANTE, is making her mark and dominating the music scene with her latest single "Impossible". This ultramodern rock 'n' roll marvel flawlessly delivers with her new single "Impossible", and has critics saying her compelling sound is reminiscent of Pat Benatar and Alanis Morissette. The story of the innocent girl falling for the modern day heartthrob and bad boy, only to realize she is better off without him takes superior form in DIAMANTE's new single. "Impossible" is presently playing on numerous Top 40 and Hot AC radio stations across the country. DIAMANTE was on the road all summer performing across the country on her very own "Age Of Rebellion Tour" and as one of the featured artists on the nationwide No Bully Tour America 2011.DIAMANTE is performing at the Key Club in Hollywood on November 12 Her new hit single."Impossible" is now availavle for downlaod on iTunes. ”

Rock and roll heroes - Tears For Fears

Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal combined prog and pop in the most brilliant way, at times they were Beatles influenced and in others, more of a new romantic band.
Along with Simple Minds, Tears For Fears are 2 of my favorite pop/rock bands from the 80´s era in the U.K. The albums "Songs from the big chair" (1985) and "Elemental" (1993) are without doubt their best and featured hits like Everybody wants to rule the world, Shout and Break it down again.

The 1995 album "Raoul and the kings of Spain" and Orzabal´s solo album "Tomcats screaming outside" from 2001 weren´t any big sellers which is a shame since they are just as great as their classic stuff, you will find plenty of intelligent songwriting here.

The first album "The hurting" from 1983 featured the big hit "Mad world" and it´s a good album but also a bit too soft I think, their last album "Everyone loves a happy ending" from 2004 was a nice comeback with Smith and Orzabal back together again. Too bad the DVD from Paris wasn´t equally good.

Ok, the 1989 album "Sowing the seeds of love" might feature the huge "Seeds of love" but I thought this album was quite boring to say the least. Not the Tears For Fears sound I wanted. The people who loved this album, never got into their other stuff.

Rock and roll heroes - The Tubes

San Fransisco is the home for my favorite band Journey and it´s also the home for The Tubes who had their peak between 1977-1983. Starting with the live album "What do you want from live" that was the first album I heard with the band and the following studio albums "Remote control", "The completion backward principle" and "Outside inside" are all artsy AOR classics.

Their last studio album "Genius America" from 96 is a lost and forgotten piece of work that deserve more attention, it is infact a really good album but the 90´s was a tough decade for most 70´s melodic rock bands so the album vanished.

Their 3 first albums are nothing but a solid cornerstone in The Tubes career, some fans consider these albums to be their best. There are some major great songs on them but I prefer the ones above. It´s cool that Nina Hagen did a cover of "White punks on dope" from the first album.

It wasn´t easy to follow up the successful 1983 album "Outside inside", the album "Love bomb" (1985) was a fiasco where the band tried to do something different. I really did try to like it but it just didn´t work.

Casino Madrid - Life sentencer

Future metal from Casino Madrid, a song taken from their new album "Robots", out on Oct 4th. Play it loud!

This album is amazing, Aussie rock is like medicine!

Dream on dreamer - Downfall

This is heavy shit! The song is taken from their new album "Heartbound".

Daughtry - Renegade

Active rock is good for your soul, here´s Daughtry´s new single "Renegade"
