1996 is not perhaps one of the strongest years in modern rock history although it had a few shiny moments with albums from Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, Tonic, Failure and PFR.
Some big hits this year were Counting blue cars by Dishwalla, What I got by Sublime, Swallowed by Bush and Down by 311.
I wasn´t really into modern rock 100% mostly because this was the year of the comeback from my no.1 favorite band Journey, their reunion album Trial by fire was truly the soundtrack at this point of my life.
But here are a few nice modern rock releases.

Well, "Yourself Or Someone Like You", Matchbox Twenty (or Matchbox 20, like they were called in the beginning)'s first album was released October 1, 1996. A true masterpiece, if you ask me...

Lovely, thank you! Its really hard to track down every single release of every year even though I do my very best of collecting as much as I possibly can. I have added these albums to the list.
