Chris Braide - I can´t keep it to myself VIDEO

Chris Braide - I can´t keep it to myself VIDEO, this beautiful song is taken from his album "The Upside" (2009).
I need to get his both albums now!

The Producers - Freeway / US news

The video of The Producer´s brilliant song "Freeway" featuring the hitmakers Trevor Horn, Chris Braide, Lol Creme and Steve Lipson. Chris Braide has left the band but the album will be released under the new name US with the album title "The path of Sydney Arthur".

Honor Society - Fashionably late (2009)

If it weren´t for the groovy rock parts on this album, I´m not so sure I would like Honor Society because there´s just too much boyband over them. But the successful new album "Fashionably late" is selling lots of copies mainly because of the super hit "Over you" that you can download below.
They´re like a mix of Jonas Brothers and Maroon 5, I really love the funky moments but can skip the teenpop that also show up from time to time.

Rasmus Seebach - Engel VIDEO

Rasmus Seebach - Engel VIDEO!, taken from the self titled debut out today Sept 28. Danish artist Rasmus sing in his own language but what an awesome singer he is.
Sure the music is R&B influenced pop but the song is great!

Little Dragon - Machine dreams (2009)

Imagine a disco party on a spaceship where the captain is Prince and the machinist is Jean Michel Jarre, that is what you get when you listen to the Swedish band Little Dragon and their new album "Machine dreams".
I reported earlier about their cool new single "Looking glass" that is included on this album, I like the atmosphere and soundscape of this futuristic electronica that bring thoughts to upspeeded big city life videos.
It might be a little too much to hear the entire album in one take so I prefer it small doses.

Ruh - I´ll be dead til the end of May VIDEO

I´m expecting the new album from the ultra cool Swedish band RUH today, the new album is called "Find the essence and multiply" and this is the video of the new single "I´ll be dead til the end of May". What a great song!

Emil Bulls - Phoenix (2009)

A huge dose of German numetal is never wrong, Emil Bulls 2003 album "Porcelain" was excellent but then the band has fallen in a downgoing trend with the following "Southern comfort" (2005) and the angry "The black path" (2008).
However, the new album is wicked. They´re back to what they´re good at, huge numetal in the same vein as "Porcelain".
"Phoenix" will fulfill all your needs if you want super heavy riffs and big choruses, I love this album where songs like "The Architechts of my Apocalypse", "Nothing in this world", "Time" and "It´s high time" are metal monsters.
"Phoenix" made me real happy!

Rob Marcello in House of Lords

Yes it´s true, I spoke to my old friend Rob Marcello (Danger Danger) this morning and he is the touring guitarist for House of Lords this fall tour.
It´s gonna be awesome to meet him in December when they come to Sweden, and ofcourse also attend to the HOL show to hear some classics.
He was learning the songs from the first HOL album and he promised they would play songs like Pleasure Palace and Demons Down.
We also talked about the new Kiss album, he is a huge Kiss fan just like me.
Rob has started writing songs for a 2nd Marcello / Vestry album but it won´t be recorded until 2010.
It´s been a while since I talked Rob so this was all fun!

Breaking Benjamin - Dear Agony (2009)

I think Tom Spinelli is going to do the review of BB´s new album over at melodic.net so I will write down a few words about it here at my blog instead.
Breaking Benjamin rock harder on the new album "Dear agony" compared to "Phobia" and I welcome this heavier riffing but a few songs soundalike which ain´t as positive as the riffing part.
It´s a mega solid production that truly sound great and in this mainstream era of rock, BB do stand out with a personal sound so it´s a crime to below 3.

Picture Me Broken - Dearest I´m sorry EP (2009)

I don´t think there is such a genre as powerplant rock but the female fronted Picture Me Broken could filed under that label.
Their debut EP "Dearest I´m sorry" takes the listener on a ride in pop, metal, screamo and clean vocals.
It´s a great EP that the band is giving away for free, here it is:

Rob Daiker - Bad day for goodbye EP (2009)

I have been a fan of Rob Daiker since the day I heard Slowrush (2000) with a sound similar to Dan Reed´s Network.
It´s been rather quiet from Daiker but this year he released the brand new EP "Bad day for goodbye" and man, he does not disappoint.
These 6 new songs might not sound like Slowrush but we´re talking quality music where Daiker´s sense of strong melodies shines through like the sun on a clear blue sky.
I love the mix of electro pop, modern AOR and powerpop so if there is any justice in this world, Daiker should be signed to a major label with this classy stuff.

Spyke - Divine decadence (2003)

I stumbled across this 2003 album today for only 20skr ($2) from a band I had never heard of before.
Spyke was a short lived band from Sweden with the self produced album "Divine decadence" that can be described as a synthmetal affair.
If Depeche Mode and Rammstein collaborated, this could very well be the result except for the vocals that belong on a Frankie Goes To Hollywood album.
The track "Crypt of love" is awesome!

Tim Burton´s Alice in Wonderland will premiere on March 5, 2010. The trailer is awesome, I think Johnny Depp is just perfect for this role.

Three Minute Madness - Disgraceful (2009)

Imagine a modern rock version of Soundgarden and you´re gonna get the Swedish post grunge band Three Minute Madness.
3MM is so much better than Takida, their debut album "Disgraceful" rocks hard and it will be out on Sept 25.
Download the track "Take me away" below and I will promise you that you will purchase the album within seconds.

Marc Storace album by album comments

I did this interview with Krokus singer Marc Storace back in 2003 but it´s not online at melodic.net anylonger so here is a short excerpt from the interview with Storace doing comments about the Krokus catalogue.
METAL RENDEZVOUZ (1980)

Marc- It`s difficult to decide which is your best born child because you love them all … for years it was "Metal Rendezvous" but that was before "Rock The Block" saw the light of day !!! Certainly the most "flawless" album , every track a killer !

HARDWARE (1981)

Marc- Easy Rocker has been on every "Set-List" since it was released and I can never get enough of this majestic anthem which is dedicated to all our loyal fans .
"Burning Bones"; "Rock City" and "Winning Man" are also dynamite .
For a while back there we even had "She`s Got Everything" in the "Live-Set"… each one a gem .

ONE VICE AT A TIME (1982)

Marc-The opening track "Longstick Goes Boom " is heavy enough to sink a Battleship in one blow and has opened hundreds of our shows !
"Bad Boys Rag Dolls" is like a freight train speeding through your living room .
"American Woman" gets the girls swinging their hips and the boys loosened up!
"Down The Drain" is a rarity just because it’s a heavy shuffle Krokus style and a cool sing-a-long !
"To the Top" is on my solo-band`s live repertoire and is solid as a rock.

HEADHUNTER (1983)

Marc- This album was one of a kind .We spared no horses from begining to end .A real boneshaker !
The all time Classic Rock Ballad "Screaming in the Night" is still played on American Radio to this day and has never left our Live "Set-List".
I was deeply influenced by the Film "Conan the Barbarian" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger when I wrote the Lyrics to the Title Track "Headhunter".
"Eat the Rich"… our`s is the very First Authentic Original!

THE BLITZ (1984)

Marc- Here we slowly started losing touch with our "CORE" and got sucked in by this Glam-Rock Commercial "Carnival" which was happening around us .
Our record company wanted to have some Airplay Hits .
Still we managed to write a few Kick Ass Killers like "Midnite Maniac" ,"Out of Control" ,"Ready to Rock" and made a wild rocker out of Sweet`s old glam hit "Ballroom Blitz".
Today I do a raunchier version of the ballad "Our Love" with my Solo-Band .

CHANGE OF ADDRESS (1986)

Marc- As if things weren`t bad enough ,our record company got this bug in their Corporate heads and they firmly insisted on this producer who would give us that Crossover Top 40 Sound .
Once across "the bridge" they would easily recoup the Million Dollars they sank into the longest and most expensive Krokus record production in history !
Our Demo sounded ballsier than the finished product … (laughter) and the album took a nose-dive ……!!! A shame ,and some good songs went to waste .

HEART ATTACK (1988)

Marc- Thanks to the last "Plan of Genius" we had landed deep in the red !
Our last attempt to get back on our feet with a New Record Company also failed .
With "Heart Attack" we did not return to our norm as we had hoped and our older Krokus sound was by now no longer in demand .
A couple of good songs there but a new wave of rock had taken over !!!
At this point we were all burnt out and surrounded by chaos …… I cannot stand intrigue and so I decided to call it a day !
Next stop… home to the sunny Maltese Islands for a spot of fishing .

TO ROCK OR NOT TO BE (1995)

Marc- After my long needed break from Krokus and a few other musical ventures inbetween to freshen me up !
I was again objective and "right on the money" for Krokus .
I knew what was good for "my old baby" and got straight down to work .
A whole load of high carat energy rock on this one .
The whole album is great !

ROCK THE BLOCK (2003)

Marc- This really is indeed the strongest album ever and I hope to God that we shall all never forget the winning formula .
Many factors contributed to this ,for example one was that we allowed enough time till the songs matured ,and another was the independent way in which we approached the studio production .
The band worked out their own schedule in the main studio in Lausanne ,
and I had my own thing going ,at my own steady pace ,at home in Basel .
This way I was able to write lyrics and be with my family during the daytime and sing my heart out any night I felt ready !
In this day and age ,communication is very fast so we were always closely
connected and what really mattered in the end was the satisfactory excecution of the individual final performances !

Pink Cream 69 - Live in Karlsruhe (2009)

Pink Cream 69 celebrate their 20th anniversary with the double CD/DVD Live in Karlsruhe out on Oct 16.
It´s not the first time they release a live album, the album simply titled "Live" came out in 1997.
The band has released 10 studio albums with the latest one "In10sity" in 2007, singer David Readman has been with the band since album no.4 "Change" in 1994.
The first 3 albums are recorded with original singer Andy Deris and I´m glad to see so many as 7 tracks taken from the Deris era on "Live in Karlsruhe".
12 tracks are taken from 1997 and forward plus we get a cover medley of "So lonely" (The Police) and "No woman no cry" (Bob Marley).
Original members Bassist Dennis Ward, guitarist Alfred Koffler and drummer Kosta Zafirou are still with the band and they are as tight the bricks in the Chinese wall.
This live album sound good and it deserves nothing less than 3 out of 5.

Jaded Heart - Perfect insanity (2009)

The only original members left in the German band Jaded Heart are Axel Kruse - Drums and Michael Muller - Bass.
Former singer Michael Bormann recorded 6 albums with the band between 1994-2004 and he was replaced by the Swede Johan Fahlberg.
"Perfect insanity" is JH´s 9th studio album and the 3rd to feature Fahlberg on vocals, I´m not that fond of his voice but the production is classy and the performance from the band is faultless.
However, the songs doesn´t move me the way I want melodic hard rock to be. Too many cliche´s I´m afraid.
Their fans will probably have no problem with this release whatsoever, but I think you could expect more from a band that has been around for 15 years.

Marchello - The power of money (1991) CBS Records

Family Force 5 - Keep the party alive EP

Family Force 5 released their new EP "Keep the party alive" on Sept 15 just in time for the Halloween weekend this fall, the EP features the new song "Keep the party alive" plus 4 previously released album songs.
The new song is ok but I think the band is ripping their fans money when we have already heard the rest.

A Night at the Roxbury

A Night at the Roxbury! One of the funniest movies ever..........I´ve seen it so many times and it´s still just as funny as the first time I saw it.

Winger - Karma Promo Video

Winger Promo Video of new album Karma, ...what can I say?! These guys are gods!

Kiss - Sonic Boom (2009)

My childhood heroes are back with a brand new studio album and this one sound even more like their 70´s albums than any release after Dynasty.
Kiss has recorded the new album the analog style to give it a more 70´s esque sound and even the artwork is done by the same man that did the Rock and roll over cover.
What strikes me is that Simmons has actually written a bunch of really good songs, sure he did a few nice songs on "Revenge" but he was rather so-so in the 80´s and almost let Stanley carry the albums himself.
Gene Simmons "I´m an animal" is excellent!
I think "Sonic boom" can be described as a mix between their 80´s albums and the 70´s stuff.
The weakest tracks are the ones sung by Thayer and Singer, "Lightning strikes" and "All for the glory", they´re ok but nothing more.
I sure did expect more from Stanley since he´s been the one that has done most of the killer tracks on all Kiss albums, his contribution to this album is ofcourse satisfying but I miss the typical Stanley songs that stand out like he has always done.
The best Stanley songs are "Modern day delilah" and "Say yeah".
"Sonic boom" is the best album since Creatures of the night, I think there were some stronger tracks on Crazy nights but the new album is more even.

Ace Frehley - Anomaly (2009)

This album is certainly one of those anticipated album releases I have been waiting for since the spaceman´s latest studio album "Trouble walking" in 1989.
I am a huge Kiss fan and really love Ace´s classic solo album from 1978, as usual Ace is backed up by his friend and super drummer Anton Fig who is drumming like a god on "Anomaly".
Ace Frehley hasn´t written as many classic songs in Kiss as Stanley and Simmons but his songs truly fill one album of great rockers like "Rocket ride", "Shock me", "Talk to me", "Save your love", "Hard times", "Dark light" and "Into the void".
His new solo album is quite solid and contains a few classic Frehley songs like "Change the world", "Sister", "A little below the angels" and "Outer space".
But the real highlight is the instrumental "Fractured quantum", amazing piece of music!
I don´t think "Anomaly" can match his 1978 album but the new is good, no doubt.
